Not Lost to You (Poem)

When the grey waters of endless seas become my prevailing view
And high waves toss my focus away from you
When my heart seems as a stranded ship and doubt seems imminently due
There your love will find me faithful Father, your hands will hold me true

Where a parched wasteland of desert sand feels all too familiar to me
And hope of pastures new threatens to give way to despair in thee
Your bubbling spring of faithful love offering gentle refreshing I see
Over my dry downcast heart it cascades, new life and hope does it decree

When i'm lost in a thicket of sorrow and feel from you apart
And the acute sting of memory, failure and loss embed within my tender heart
The Good Shepherd never fails to find me, to remove every painful dart
Disentangled by his loving arms, affection and security does he faithfully impart

For witnessed every time such situations threaten to assail you or me
And worn out and tired we want to collapse from life's rocky journey
Whether thirsty for breakthrough, tossed by doubt or pierced by memory you will never fail to see
That you will never be lost to God and his unfailing love will never fail or cease to find thee
