See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
Isaiah 43:19 (NIV)
This cracked and dry place of my soul’s wandering
Had become a picture of parched pondering
Constant questions at my journey’s turn
Through uncharted wilderness; I am unable to discern
Though understanding was not forthcoming
And discouragement a crescendo of deafly thrumming
A way was formed, and beside me a river floweth
From the dust of the barren place I saw it groweth
Oh the flood of joy as hope’s dawning light takes hold
Christ’s faithfulness arises; a shining light so bold
Ever present help in times of trouble my saviour brings
This bruised reed is sheltered under safe refuge of His wings
Held by my saviour’s hand until in Him I again find rest
The promise that is uttered reassuringly at my saviour’s behest
Beloved child, I am working for you, see I am doing a new thing
It springs forth turning dryness to joy; your gaze to the redeeming King
Drink deep from such blessed stream coursing through this parched ground
Let my unfailing love quench your fear for to you my daily mercies abound
Take this life-giving way forged through wilderness to pastures new
Encounter the truth that my plans for you are good, hope-filled, and true.
