“The sun of righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings”
Malachi 4:2 (NKJV)
The title ‘Sun of Righteousness’ is a fitting title for the incarnate manifest presence of divine perfect love in human form, Jesus Christ, the saviour of our souls, the one for whom no one is beyond the touch of his tender love and redemption.
Christ, the pinnacle of righteousness emanating from God and the face of God’s heart for humanity shines brighter than the sun on a cloudless day at the zenith of its march across the sky. As layers of clothing are removed in the warmth and light of the sun as it shines, so the warmth of the love of Christ is such as to encourage the gentle and methodical removal of even the most hardened layers that encase our hearts.
Whether it is chipping away at the stony flint shell or bandaged layers covering a hurting, bitter or wounded heart, Jesus’s work is a patient labour of love that gently unwinds those bandages covering our broken hearts, his presence mends the wounded wanderings of loneliness and his unfailing love restores the sense of self-worth and value of a rejected heart.
Let the warmth of his unfailing love and finished work at the cross of Calvary where he gave himself in his entirety for you and me that we might as the scripture says “reign in life” through him and with him (Romans 5:17) sink deeper into your heart today. Rejoice that the King of Kings knows the depths of your heart and his love knows no bounds that will prevent him from reaching you in even the darkest of places. He truly is the sun of righteousness, the saviour of the world!
