Abba's Dearly Beloved

“Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.”

In the press and heaviness of the difficult challenges that beset my day yesterday where my mind was weighed down with frustration and care and even moments of hopeless despair and loosing sight of my Father Gods gaze, these words came unfolded from the Holy Spirit who touched my heart with the reality of that continuous, unrelenting always present love, affection and faithfulness that flows from the hear of almighty Father God. Dear reader whatever you are going through my prayer is that the Holy Spirit would touch and refresh your heart with Father Gods unfailing love as you read below the words below shared from my own in response to such a love as this…

Sometimes, I do not know what to do with your exquisite generous goodness and sweet and pure love extended as both arms stretched out nail punctured on a cross and to the prodigal son in each of us we return wearily home.

What do I do with this unfailing love that constantly offers me His hand. I am undone because my heart is not used to such extraordinary love that chooses me still even though I have not always chosen him nor always faithfully walked in close step with him. Though my mind and heart may falter at times and turn, whether aside in distraction or towards the earth In fear, doubt or the lie of inadequacy or even away from him, the real and yearning love of my saviour and Lord Jesus Christ continues to flow towards me and prod me gently with love through the Holy Spirit, until once again my heart is led back to those loving arms that stand ready to embrace. 

What is man that you are mindful of him, human beings that you care for them?

Psalm 8:4 (NIVUK)

Truly Father God, I don’t know always how to respond to such love which persists as before though I fall, I look at the wild wind and waves, I lapse into trust in my pride that I know best and self sufficiency and throw angry or frustrated rants with you. Yet you show that same love you always do, that love that meant that I as with all humanity went free as Barabbas did though with no doubt of my own imperfection and you who were faultless and innocent silently went in loving obedience with me in mind to lay your life down for mine and for every single person who walks thy is earth. The cords that draw me closer to you are indeed cords of your kindness and unfailing love. 

All I can therefore do in the face of such unyielding love is surrender to the divine author my loving saviour Jesus, my eternal Father God, the joyful Emanuel presence within of the Holy Spirit. Blessed Trinity indeed. There l rest once more on the solid rock foundation of His gifted glorious righteousness that covers me and as I see those nail scarred  arms opened to me budding me come, I look to my saviour’s outstretched hands of invitation to find etched in letters bound In love appearing like gold and jasper there my name is carved. He wears it proudly for I am his, bought through such a love as this but my name is not alone there, but one among many. It is such grace that causes us to come home from a distant land of distraction, spiritual poverty or open rebellion or drop our tools and let go the back breaking work of self effort, striving toil and pursuit of self righteousness and run to be close to the Father who loves you and me once again.

 I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands

Prayer and Reflection: If the Holy Spirit has been showing you or many facets and folds of the father’s embracing love, ask him to seal what he is revealing in your heart. Meditate on the revelation he has shown you. Finally ask the Holy Spirit to reveal daily the reality of God’s perfect love and kindness that never forgets, never has or will give up on you for your name or there engraved proudly on your Saviours hand.
